A scarce collection of hermetic tracts copied from a manuscript (itself a transcript from an older but now untraceable work) belonging to the celebrated collection of the late Mr. Frederick Hockley. The volume includes works by Eirenaeus Philalethes; The Secret of the Immortal Liquor called Alkahest and The Preparation of the Sophic Mercury, Dr Francis Antony; Aurum Potable, George Starket; The Admirable Efficacy of the True Oil of Sulphur Vive, Sir George Ripley; The Bosom Book and an anonymous unknown author; The Stone of the Philosophers. A very good copy in original blue cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. Previous owner name stamp to front endpaper O[swald] Silberrad, a a British chemist who specialised in explosives.
