VAN HORN, Erica. Stiles and The Pennine Way.
(Docking, Norfolk): Coracle, 1993. First edition. Slim folio. (4 unnumbered pages). Nice artists book documenting Van Horn’s eleven-day walk along the Pennine Way during which the artist kept herself entertained by counting the number of stiles encountered along the way, a text describing the experience is accompanied by an illustration of the tally. A succinct visual account of the hours and miles of wet trail walking is an elegant translation of the emptying of the mind that comes from such a physically engaging journey. A very good copy, hardbound with folio ties. Published in an edition of 100 numbered copies.
