THOMPSON, Hunter S. Fear and Loathing in America: The Brutal Odyssey of an Outlaw Journalist 1968 -1976.

(London): Bloomsbury, 2000.  First UK edition.  Octavo.  756 pages.  Edited by Douglas Brinkley.  Foreword by David Halberstam.  The follow-up to The Proud Highway, the letters here, written between 1968 and 1976, show Thompson building his legend, running for sheriff in Aspen, creating his seminal road book, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, as well as providing a raw and revolutionary eyewitness account of one of the most exciting and pivotal eras in American history.  A very good copy in dust jacket.  This example with publisher’s bookplate initialled by Hunter S. Thompson, affixed to the title-page.
