SYMONS, Thos. M. Miss Football of 1957.

Small archive of sixty photographs of the “campus beauties” who competed for the title of ‘Miss Football of 1957’ at the Berkeley Football Festival which launched the intercollegiate football season. The College Queens presided over the “Parade of Lights” and other events at the Festival. Mary Ann Mobley, from the University of Mississippi was eventually crowned “Miss football”. The photographs measuring 26cm by 20cm comprise both group shots and individual portraits some are inscribed by the Queens and some have signatures to the verso. Most photographs carry the photographer’s studio stamp to the reverse, two have the stamps from studios in the university town of that particular Queen. The photographs are in good condition, some with corner creasing, some aged toned to edges.
