Sky: Preview Special.

(London): News International – Hachette Ltd., 1987.  First edition.  Quarto.  Unpaginated.  Super rare preview issue of Sky Magazine which ran from April, 1987 until June, 2001.  The preview issue was designed by Malcolm Garret and featured cover image of Tina Turner and David Bowie, a photo-shoot having been commissioned especially for this issue (Tina Turner’s team requested that wrinkles and veins were removed from her image and the whites of her eyes were to be whitened, an expensive exercise pre-photoshop).  A similar image was used on the cover of the July / August, 1987 ‘In Fashion’ magazine.  The magazine features fold-out pages and gives an idea of what is to be expected in future issues, “a brand new mix of film, fashion, music, TV, spectacular sport, hard news and Hi-tech”.   The magazine also promises chats with stars, this issue includes Kathleen Turner and Sting.  A very good example of this rare issue.  This preview issue was never sold but initially given away free with issues of The Sunday Times and News of the World.
