SIEBER, Oliver. Imaginary Club.

(No place): GwinZegal / BohmKobayashi, 2013. First edition. Quarto. Unpaginated. The amazing final cut of Oliver Sieber’s long-term project, Imaginary Club is an 430-page juxtaposition of black-and-white images and colour portraits. Sieber has captured the ultimate documentation of recent youth scenes and subcultures in his colour portraits which are traditional head-to-chest shots. The images show teddy boys, skinheads, punks, goths and rockabillys from cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Cologne, Toronto, Osaka and Schwäbisch Hall. The combination of clothes, hairstyles, tattoos and accessories is almost like a code. The volume also includes grainy black-and-white photographs of the streets and places where the photographer met each individual in the book. A fine copy published in a limited edition of 500 copies. A remarkable visual dictionary of 21st Century youth culture.
