SANFELIU, J. El Bar: Evolucion Y Arte del Cocktail.
(Madrid): Castello, 1949. First edition. Octavo. 256 pages. Prologue by Carlos Sentis, epilogue by Luis Maria de Zunzunegui. Also includes an essay on wine by Orlando Ortega. Important work on the evolution and art of the cocktail by the head barman at the swanky Palace Hotel in Madrid. The volume also records a number of recipes including the earliest recorded recipe for a Negroni. James Bond’s drink when he wasn’t in the mood for a martini. This is a very good copy, some foxing throughout, in printed wrappers with the very scarce dust jacket. This copy inscribed by the author on the half-title, ith an additional signed note on headed paper laid-in together with publisher’s promotional flyer. A great copy of this important work.
