SAMIOF, Steven and Melanie NISSEN. Slash.

(Los Angeles, CA): Slash, 1979. First edition. Tabloid fanzine. 42 pages. Volume two, number one. Cool issue of this cult magazine that was the underground voice of the Los Angeles Punk Scene 1977-1980. Slash set trends not only in music, but also in street fashion and visual art. It offered tirades against the corrupt music industry and its stars along with endless rants in favour of turning the status quo upside down. This issue features an article on the Vancouver scene, local news, an interview with Wall of Voodoo, an interview with the Undertones, an interview with James Chance as well as Jimbo cartoon by Gary Panther, reviews of singles, albums, and concerts. A very good copy with cover illustration of James Chance by Mike Fink.
