RIDGERS, Derek. When We Were Young.
(Brighton): Photoworks, 2004. First edition. Octavo. Foreword by Derek Chandler. Text by Val Williams. A fantastic volume, part photography monography, part fashion history, part memento mori. The book encapulates Ridgers work and his influential role as quiet observer and documenter of British street style. It covers the period between 1978 to 1987 illustrating Ridgers photographs of the inhabitants of London’s streets and club scene, skinheads and the extravagant and exoctic figures of the post punk, New Romantic era are displayed in a mix of colour and black and white images. A very good plus copy in photo-illustrated card covers with integral dust jacket, jacket with some rubbing. A fantastic volume.
