Very rare acetate printing plate for the iconic Boy London, “God Squad?” T-shirt which was paired with the copyright tagline: “©BOY LONDON, LICENSED FROM HEAVEN”. Weaponizing religious language the tshirt cleverly and cheekily links it with the Boy London devotee’s club of choice, Heaven, located deep inside the cavernous brick arches directly underneath Charing Cross railway station the club was Europe’s first and most famous gay superclub. It transformed LGBTQ+ nightlife from hidden, secretive basement bars into a massive, mainstream cultural powerhouse. The acetate is in very good condition. An significant relic from the intersection of London’s 1980s subcultural fashion and queer nightlife history.
