PINCUS-WITTEN, Robert, Jeffrey DEITCH and David SHAPIRO. Keith Haring.

(New York, NY): Tony Shafrazi Gallery, 1982. First edition. Spiral bound catalogue. 144 pages. The exhibition catalogue for the landmark 1982 show that launched Keith Haring’s career. The catalogue surveys Haring’s work from the late 1970s and early 1980’s. Includes writings on the artist as well as shots of Haring’s studio, works on paper and canvas, sculpture, subway graffiti, billboards, posters, ephemera, portraits of the artist, and other works. Presented in strikingly printed full colour and black and white pages, some glossy and some matte, the first 32 pages are on yellow stock. This a very good copy in printed fluorescent folded pink card stock, small scratch to front cover, some light marking to rear cover. This copy presented in what we believe to be the original mailing carton (we have never seen another so can’t be certain). This carton with original black marker drawings in the style of Keith Haring. (There is the possibility that the drawings are by Haring, we haven’t been able to establish that they aren’t, or indeed that that they are). In any event a remarkable copy of this important catalogue.
