PAZ, Octavio. Carta de Creencia: Cantata.

(México): Ediciones Papeles Privados, 1987.  First edition.  Quarto.  17 pages.  Beautiful publication of Paz’s Carta de creencia which stemmed from his desire to publish a series of poems which he had written for his wife. The poem is accompanied by three surrealistic serigraphs created by Arnaldo Coen specifically for this volume and printed by Pablo Torrealba. Designed by Mario del Valle, the poems are printed on five folded leaves.  The prints and leaves are laid into a folder, and the folder is housed within in a simple slipcase with publisher’s name embossed.  Published in an edition of 300 numbered copies signed by Octavio Paz.  The serigraphs are also signed by Coen.  This example additionally inscribed by Paz to author Hector Bianciotti with an invitation to the original presentation of the poems laid-in.  A very desirable copy of this work by one of the greatest Spanish-speaking poets of the twentieth century.
