The volume first appeared in 1900 and a second edition was published in 1904 and is notable for including the first recipe for a Dry Martini (also included in this volume). Newman was a notable barman in Paris, and a number of his recipes are included in later cocktail books. The volume is illustrated with two photographic portraits of the author and a plate illustrating drinking vessels. This is a very good copy in original blue cloth, silver lettering at spine and front cover.
