NEWMAN, Frank P. American Bar: Boissons Anglaises et Americaines Telles Qu’on Les Prepare.
(Paris): Societe Francaise D’Imprimerie Et De Librairie, 1907. Third edition. Octavo. xx, 112 pages. [9 pages of adverts]. Scarce French cocktail book containing 327 cocktail recipes. The volume first appeared in 1900 and a second edition was published in 1904 and is notable for including the first recipe for a Dry Martini (also included in this volume). Newman was a notable barman in Paris, and a number of his recipes are included in later cocktail books. The volume is illustrated with two photographic portraits of the author and a plate illustrating drinking vessels. This is a very good copy in original blue cloth, silver lettering at spine and front cover.
