McCONNELL, Gareth (and Tom WOOD). Looking for Love.

(London): Sorika Press, 2014.  First edition.  Small quarto.  Unpaginated.  Texts, including a major new essay on the work, by David Chandler, and by Neal Brown and Gareth McConnell.  McConnell’s superb reworking of Wood’s iconic work, photographs that capture the fleeting experience of teenage freedom.  The original book was a volume of documentary photography taken during the late 80s at Merseyside’s Chelsea Reach Disco, McConnell has liberated the images from their original layout, adding cut-out irregularity and dot-matrix distortion which somehow renders them even more intimate as well as turning the original volume into something new, simultaneously nostalgic and contemporary.  A near fine copy in white linen binding with gold embossed lettering with clear acetate jacket with double-sided poster folded and laid-in.  The volume published in a limited edition of 250 numbered copies signed on the front board by Tom Wood.
