LONG, Doughtry. Black Love Black Hope.

(Detroit, MI): Broadside Press, 1971.  First edition.  Softcover.  21.5cm by 14cm.  30 pages. Introduction by Dudley Randall. Published by Detroit’s influential Broadside Press — a key platform for Black poets during the 1960s and 70s. Long’s poems address themes of racial pride, romantic love, community strength, and revolutionary urgency, balancing tenderness with militancy in tightly structured free verse. While grounded in the rhythms of African American speech and street language, Long’s work also reflects the influence of jazz and the oral tradition.  A very good copy in stapled wrappers.  This example inscribed by the poet.  Scarce.
