A rare and important work on tattoos and tattooing written by a doctor, professor, and forensic expert in Brazil, which is illustrated with photographs and drawings taken from medical and jail archives. Lisboa proposes a classification system for tattoos, and also includes several color diagrams showing the percentage of tattooed subjects among sailors, criminals, and murder victims. Attractively rebound at an early or contemporary date in crushed green morocco over marbled boards, titled in gilt at the spine, with the the original printed wraps preserved. A very good copy.
