[Le Editeur Invisible]. Poets Paper.
(Amsterdam): Self-published, 1981. First edition. A4 stapled sheets. 29.5cm by 21cm. Five volumes. Issues 1-5, all published. A resurrection of Vondelparks Sunday Paper (1977). This a project for the fourth edition of the One World Poetry festival, one of the largest and most important poetry events in the world organised, by Susan Janssen and William Levy. The main theme of that year’s festival was ‘War Against War’. 63 poets from all over the globe gathered together in Amsterdam to let their voices be heard in a divided world. Attendees included William Burroughs, Ken Kesey, Ed Sanders, Jim Carroll, Jerry Garcia, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Dick Higgins to name but a few. The paper was set up at the restaurant at the festival and invited contributions from anyone in attendance. It followed the same principles of the Sunday Paper, with every work being accepted with no censorship. The contributions were compiled daily, five issues from the 4th until the 11th of October, into the poets paper. Contributors included Diane di Prima, William Levy, Frederica Venn, Michael McClure, George Andrews, Eddie Woods and many others. Text a mix of Dutch and English. All issues, generally in very good condition. Scarce as a complete set. WorldCat locates a complete set at Stanford and one at Leiden.
