(Paris): Editions Jules Tallandier, 1946.  First edition.  Softcover.  17.3cm by 11.5cm.  61 pages.  The eigth volume in the author’s complete psychophysical system, aimed at: strengthening the body, purifying the breath, calming the mind, refining willpower, preparing for deep meditation, harmonizing life morally and socially and finally reaching joy (ananda).  Constant Kerneïz — born Constant Félix Guyot — traveled and studied under Indian teachers in the 1920s and 1930s, including in London under an Indian yogi “Teacher Narendra”.  Kerniez was one of the earliest interpreters of Indian yoga for Western lifestyle conditions, laying the foundations for what later would become “modern European yoga.”  This is a very good copy in wrappers.  Scarce in this first edition.
