KAYE, Martin. Paradiso Punk Weekend.

(Amsterdam): Paradiso, 1978. Original silkscreen poster for the first punk weekender at the infamous Paradiso nightclub. The event featured Whizz Guy, Ivy Green and the Flyin’ Spiderz on the 17th feb, 1978 and The Blitz, Panic, and The Speed Twins, on the 18th Feb. The event produced Hollands first live punk recording Keihard en Swingend. The poster, measuring 61cm by 43cm, was produced by Martin Kaye, Paradiso’s longest serving in-house designer and screen-printer (1972-1983) and a decisive influence on defining Paradiso’s image. The poster features an easily legible typeface to enable people to read the text as they rode past on their bicycles. Kaye also distibuted the print run of around 120 copies throughout Amsterdam himself. This is a near fine copy.
