IONESCO, Irina. The Eros of Baroque.

(Tokyo): Libroport Company, 1988. First edition. Hardcover. 26.6cm by 30.5cm.  129 pages.  A striking photobook in which Irina Ionesco unleashes her baroque erotic imagination, The volume explores themes of female sensuality, fantasy costume, theatricality, and the liminal interplay between childhood and adulthood. The images are lavishly staged, combining the lush opulence of baroque aesthetic with darkly intimate moments. The production itself is part of the experience: printed on black matte pages contrasted with glossy plates, the book has a dramatic visual texture that complements Ionesco’s moody, dreamlike imagery. In the center of the book is a smaller section, printed on blue paper, with photo-illustrated text divided into 10 ‘scenes.’ Text in Japanese, numerous illustrations in colour and black and white.  A very good copy in dust jacket with the scarce obi.  This example signed by Ionesco.
