HOWDEN, Patrick F. Eco-Logistics: A How-it-Will-Work Grand Tour of Compatible Alternatives, Mutual Self-Reliance, the Bio-Economy, and Ecotechnic Peasantry; Including Gentle Steps into the Good Life. Another Idea Whose Time has Come
(Truro, Cornwall): Self-published, 1980. Second printing. Oblong quarto. 20.5cm by 30cm. 112 pages. A classic tour de force of neo-primitive voluntary simplicity, the volume offers an extensive array of possibilities and information on alternative technology and lifestyle. The 19 chapters cover areas such as building, lighting, heating, solar power, permaculture, wind power and alternative methods of transportation. Some suggestions have a delightful off beat quality the chapter on lighting (entitled ‘Light Relief) considers the possibility of a room lit from plankton. The text is accompanied by numerous illustrations, tables and graphs. A very good copy in printed wrappers, some repaired wear at the spine. Reprinted three or four times between 1979 and 1983 all editions are scarce with OCLC locating just five copies of all printings.
