HAYNES, Jesper. St. Marks 1986-2006.

(New York, NY): Jesper Haynes and Pinkuneko Publishing, 2010.  First edition.  Softcover.  19.1cm by 14.4cm.  Unpaginated. Haynes’ first photobook, a raw, intimate portrait of the artist’s life on St. Marks Place in New York City’s East Village during the mid-1980s. The book is a deeply personal visual diary, documenting the punk-infused, bohemian atmosphere of downtown Manhattan through candid, grainy black-and-white photographs. Living in a shared apartment with artists, musicians, drag queens, and underground figures, Haynes turned his lens inward—capturing a world of hedonism, rebellion, vulnerability, and creative freedom.  A very good copy in wrappers with integral flaps.  Scarce.
