GREGOR, Paul. Journal d’un Sorcier.

(Paris): Paul Sebescen, Editeur, [1964].  First edition.  Softcover.  19.2cm by 14.2cm.  326 pages. An atmospheric spiritual memoir chronicling the author’s initiation into Afro-Brazilian macumba and quimbanda traditions during a journey through Rio de Janeiro and the Amazonian interior. Structured as a personal diary, Journal d’un Sorcier reads like a fevered confession of mystical encounters, erotic initiations, and ritual transgression. Grégor’s narrative blends field observation, esoteric philosophy, and magical symbolism in a tone that veers between anthropological curiosity and mystical delirium. At its heart, the book documents the author’s psychic and sensual transformation through contact with Exu and other orisha-like spirits. His guides include Tiberio, a shadowy master-sorcerer, and the enigmatic Consuelo—both symbolic archetypes and flesh-and-blood figures in this jungle psychodrama. Illustrated with ritual sigils and interpretive sketches, the book is a visual and literary hybrid—half field diary, half grimoire—.  A very good copy in pictorial wrappers.  A presentable copy of this pre-Castaneda occult travel narratives.
