(London): Eyre & Spottiswode, 1950.  Third edition.  Octavo.  289 pages.  Greene’s travel account based on his 1938 trip to Mexico, to see the effects of the government’s campaign of forced anti-Catholic secularization and how the inhabitants had reacted to the brutal anti-clerical purges of President Plutarco Elías Calles via the uprisings known as the Cristero War.  Illustrated  with 10 pages of monochrome plates, and maps on endpapers.  A very good copy in dust jacket.  jacket with usual spine fading, and a few short tears.
