(New York, NY): Random House, 1985.  First edition.  Softcover issue.  Goldberg’s first volume; a collection of photographs of both rich and poor people, with the subjects’ own handwritten comments about themselves surrounding the images.  The images reveal Goldberg’s subjects’ innermost fears and aspirations, their perceptions and illusions about themselves, with a frankness that make the portraits as engrossing as they are disturbing.  A very good copy only of this acclaimed photobook.
