(Tokyo): Haga Shoten, 1977.  First edition.  Quarto.  211 pages.  A beautiful volume reproducing 87 images depicting `irezumi` (tattoos) which appear on characters in ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints depicting images of the `floating world`, predominantly produced during the Edo era ).  Includes 17 folding plates.  The volume includes two essays on Irezumi and an index of the images.  A very good plus copy in blue cloth with gilt lettering, original glassine dust jacket, with the publisher’s printed slipcase.
