FOREST, Jean-Claude. Barbarella.

(New York): Grove Press, 1966. First US edition. Quarto. 68 pages. An important work that anticipated the sexual revolution and caused a scandel on its originally French publication despite its eroticism being slight. It is often referred to the first “adult” comic-book (ignoring the existence of the Tijuana bibles) and spawned many sisters, such as Jodelle, Pravada, Isabella, Valentina, Vampirella, that explored the struggle for sexual freedom. The work was adapted into a cult film starring Jane Fonda. A very good copy in dust jacket.  Jacket with a short closed tear, otherwise a nice bright example.
