FERGUSON, Marjorie. Intro.
(London): Oldhams Press, 1967. First edition. Folio. 44cm by 28cm. [32]-pages. Issue for December 2, 1967. Nice issue of this shagtastic, ‘Swinging British’ magazine aimed at teenage girls. Marjorie Ferguson, associate editor of Woman Weekly was singled out to edit Intro. The intention was to be an innovative magazine to tap the rising spending power and reflect the burgeoning youth culture of the late 1960s. Way ahead of its time, Intro suffered from conflicting messages from the management: an interview with the Beatles with implications of pot smoking was acceptable; Marjorie Proops on penetrative sex was pulped. Intro had a short but merry life. This issue includes articles on glasses, fashions under a fiver, cosmetics for men, 24 hours with the Young Rascals, restuarant etiquette, bathtime, perfumes, and much more. A very good copy in stapled wrappers.
