(Princeton, NJ): The Pyne Press, 1971. First edition. Octavo. Unpaginated. Introductory essay, “A short history of the strange custom of tattooing” by William C. Sturtevant. The volume reproduces the flash images that were used by Fellowes. Little is known about Fellowes, and he would of remained anonymous had his sketchbook and tattooing kit not been discovered by in 1966 by a Providence, R.I. antiques dealer. This is a good copy only with some staining to rear board, preliminary pages, and small spot to bottom edge of interior pages. A previous owner has added some pencil elaborations to some of the flash art, and pencil drawings to some of the blank pages.
