EAVIS, Michael. Glastonbury Fayre, 1979.
[Pilton, Somerset]: Self-published, 1979. First edition. A5 booklet [24 pages]. Rare programme for the ‘Glastonbury Festival’ Glastonbury is the largest greenfield festival in the world, and was first held intermittently from 1970 until 1981; since then, it has been held every year, except for “fallow years” taken mostly at five year intervals, intended to give the land, local population, and organisers a break. 2018 is a “fallow year”. The line-up for 1979 included Peter Gabriel, Alex Harvey Band, Steve Hilage, Nik Turner, Mother Gong, Pop Group, and others. The programme includes a history of Glastonbury, and an essay on pop festivals by Jeremy Sandford, as well as a site map. A very good copy in stapled wrappers. The early Glastonbury festival programmes are very scarce.
