DOYLE, Roddy. The Commitments.
(Hilversum, The Netherlands): CNR Film Releasing, 1991. First edition. Quarto. Super scarce and super cool, press pack for the Dutch release of the musical comedy drama of Doyle’s novel of the same title. Set in the Northside of Dublin, the film tells the story of Jimmy Rabbitte (Robert Arkins), a young music fanatic who assembles a group of working-class youths to form a soul band named “The Commitments”. The film is the first in a series known as The Barrytown Trilogy, followed by The Snapper (1993) and The Van (1996). The pack includes press release statement in Dutch, information booklet in English, three film stills, four publicity postcards and seven photographic lobby cards, but best of all a ‘tosser’s glossary’ a 16 page booklet which is also illustrated with stills from the film. All items in very good condition housed in publisher’s printed folder. Scarce.
