DELVOYE, Wim. Pigs.

(No place): Cultureel Ambassadeur van Vlaanderen, 1999.  First edition.  Quarto.  124 pages.  Essays by Luis Camnitzer, Barbara Braun and Stijn Huijts.  Scarce volume detailing the artists controversial project of tattooing live pigs.  Up to three artists applied a tattoo simultaneously while the pig was under anaesthetic, while carers moisturised the skin.  When asked why he was tattooing pigs, Delvoye replied “that they were easier than fish”.  Despite the outrage the tattooed pig skins have sold for large amounts of money, including two skins, to Chanel, featuring Disney characters, which was made into a bag.  A near fine copy in boards with inset photographic image.
