DELAUNAY, Sonia. Alfabeto.
(Italy): Emme Edizioni, no date [1970]. First edition. Quarto. Based on a concept by Jacques Damases, Delaunay has created a stylish alphabet each letter being accompanied by a brief rhyme beginning with the letter featured in the art. The verses and the art combine not merely to teach the young child the alphabet but also to suggest the infinite possibilities that can be expressed in just twenty-six letters. Delaunay was fascinated by the symbolism of the alphabet; she used words or letters as themes in many of her paintings, and also illustrated books of poetry. It is as a colourist that she is best known, however, and her bold paintings make Alphabet sing with glorious colour. A very good copy in boards without dust jacket as issued.
