Donker N.V., 1951.  First Dutch edition.  Small quarto.  79 pages.  A scarce copy of the Dutch first edition of this classic work.  Though ostensibly styled as a children’s book, The Little Prince makes several observations about life and human nature.  The novella has been voted the best book of the 20th century in France. Translated into 300 languages and dialects, selling nearly two million copies annually, and with year-to-date sales of over 140 million copies worldwide, it has become one of the best-selling and most translated books ever published. This is a very good copy with a poor example of the rare dust jacket.  Jacket with 20cm tear at the spine on the rear panel additionally torn and worn on rear panel with edgewear elsewhere.  Still a presentable copy of this rare edition.
