De la Photographie Comme un des Beaux-arts.

(France): Centre de National de la Photographie, 1995.  Second edition.  Softcover.  19cm by 12.5cm.  Unpaginated. Introduction by Alain Sayag.  A visually elegant and intellectually engaging pocket‑book exploring how photography moved beyond purely mechanical or documentary roles in art, to become an integral part of fine art discourse. Since the 1960s, photography has shaped the work of artists like Warhol, Hockney, Rainer, Rauschenberg, among others; Sayag traces these transformations, discussing representation, imagination, and the blending of photographic and pictorial practices. Includes illustrations, historical documentation, and reflection on the Musée Réattu’s photography collection (one of the first French museums to catalogue photographs).  The volume includes work by Ed Ruscha, Chuck Close, Cindy Sherman, Marcel broodthaers, Richard Long and many others.  A very good copy in glossy wrappers with cover image by Annette Messager.
