De Blasio, Abele. Il Tatuaggio.

(Napoli): Gennaro M. Priore, 1906.   First edition.  Octavo. 281 [2] pp.  An important and early study of tattoos and tattooing, written by an Italian doctor and anthropologist who wrote often on criminology and was a follower of Lombroso. Illustrated with 15 plates, two of which are roughly hand-coloured. The final plate reproduces tattoos found on prostitutes.  A good copy in printed wrappers, worn, and tidemarked along the spine.  Professional paper repair to rear wrap and to a tear at final leaf.  This copy inscribed by the author on the half-title.  A presentable copy of this scarce and fragile work.  OCLC locates only two copies.
