(Honolulu, Hawaii): Hardy Marks Publications, 1997. First edition. Octavo. 127 pages. The story, told through diary entries, letters and drawings, of James Lawrence Slatterly, who became Andy Warhol’s superstar Candy Darling. The volume reveals her confusion about her sexuality and gender identity, her loneliness, desperation, and ultimate frustration at society’s refusal to accept her and its rejection of who she truly was.
