Issued as part of the Zephyr Books series, (not to be introduced to the British Empire or the US.A.). The first English language edition of Lewis Carroll’s classic tales with the delightful drawings of Mervyn Peake. The Peake edition was not published in the UK until 1954 and then only employing 65 of the 66 drawings found here, with several being redrawn or altered. This is a very good plus copy in printed wrappers with a very good example of the fragile paper jacket. Jacket has some soiling and age toning and with a chip at the spine head but without the usual fading to the spine lettering. A nice copy.
