(Paris): Imprimerie nationale Editions, 1994.  First edition thus.  Hardover. 36.5cm by 25.5cm. 102 pages (English text) 62 pages (French text).  Beautiful edition of this classic tale.  Loose sheets, the English text composed by hand in Marcellin-Legrand 16 point font and the French text composed in Bodoni 12 point font.  Illustrated throughout by Martin Bradley 64 illustrations printed on BFK Rives paper, 210g, on a lithographic press at the Imprimerie Nationale.  Martin Bradley’s artwork conveys the nonsensical atmosphere of this “ever so british” book.  For layout reasons, the compositions serving as banners at the bottom of pages 88 and 89 have been truncated. They have been reproduced in their entirety on two separate sheets and inserted into the work.  Loose sheets housed in illustrated folding box.  Published in a limited edition of 150 copies, this being one of 25 numbered hors commerce copies signed by the illustator.  A nice copy of this beautiful edition.
