One of the most original twentieth-century interpretations of Carroll’s classic text. Rejecting the Victorian gentility traditionally associated with John Tenniel’s imagery, Steadman reimagined Wonderland through dense pen-and-ink drawings characterized by distortion, nervous energy, visual satire, and controlled chaos. His illustrations transform Carroll’s dream world into a landscape of absurdity and psychological instability. A very good copy in unclipped dust jacket. A nice example of one of the most distinctive visual interpretations of Carroll’s text.
