BURROUGHS, William. The Naked Lunch.

(Paris): The Olympia Press, 1959 (1965).  Send edition.  Softcover.  17.5cm by 11cm.  225 pages. A surreal, fragmented, and controversial novel, a cornerstone of Beat literature.  It follows junkie William Lee as he drifts through a series of bizarre, drug-induced experiences in nightmarish settings like Interzone, a dystopian city filled with corruption, perversion, and strange characters. Written in a nonlinear, hallucinatory style, the book explores themes of addiction, control, government oppression, and sexuality. Burroughs’ use of the “cut-up” technique created a disjointed, dreamlike narrative that challenged conventional storytelling.  A very good copy in the traditional olive green wrappers of the Traveller’s Companion series.
