BOUKERCHA, Karim and Marchand & Meffre, Change is Good. Graffiti General.

(Paris): Dominique Carre, 2014. First edition. Folio. 199 pages. French text. Fantastic survey of Parisian graffiti from la Chapelle’s mythical vacant lot, which witnessed the birth of French Graffit in the middle of the 80s, through to the transformation of countless Parisian construction sites into “Open Air Galleries”, abandoned buildings used by graffiti writers throughout the 90s, these vacant lots depicting one of the golden eras of Parisian Graffiti. Boukercha takes us on a journey through Paris, from the Pompidou Center’s and Louvre’s Pyramids construction fences to the super productions of the 2000s. His study focuses more specifically on one of these abandoned places —Pantin’s Magasins Généraux — deciphering the graffiti artists’ interventions adapted to the building’s spatial configuration, revealing a spot that became popular within the Parisian graffiti scene. A very good copy in dust jacket with obi. Obi, torn and creased.
