BEIRENDONCK, Walter van. Walter’s Astonishing Illusions.

(Gent): Walter van Beirendonck, 1987.  First edition.  Announcement poster.  Super rare poster for Walter’s third collection, ‘Dare Devil Daddy’. Presented at the British Designer show at Olympia, London visitors to Walter’s booth were greeted by a mini theatre named “ Walter’s Astonishing Illusions. There they would come across thick knitted and embroidered sweaters , often done by Walter’s Sister. Along with wide, baggy and detailed pants and other garments. The collection itself was semi inspired by old fashioned circus clowns, freakshows and Charlie Chaplin.  The poster, measuring approx. 56cm by 36cm, features an image of Walter from a photograph by Patrick Robyn and is in near fine condition.  Incredibly rare we have been unable to locate another example.
