BASILICO, Gabriele. Silicon Valley ’07.
(Milan): Skira Editore, 2008. First edition. Hardcover. 24.5cm by 28.5cm. 157 pages. Published on the occasion of the exhibition Gabriele Basilico: From San Francisco to Silicon Valley, organized by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art from 26 January–15 June 2008. The volume documents Basilico’s first photographic campaign in the United States, undertaken in 2007 at the invitation of the museum’s Department of Photography. Traversing San Francisco, the South Market, Mission and Potrero districts, and extending south along Route 101 to San José, Basilico examines the urban morphology, architectural character, and rapidly transforming landscapes of Silicon Valley through his distinctive fusion of documentary photography and architectural observation. During the project he travelled nearly 5,000 kilometres and produced more than 600 photographs. Includes essays by Sandra S. Phillips and Filippo Maggia. Text in English. A very good copy in photo-illustrated boards.
