BARBIERI, Gianpaolo and Michel Tournier. Tahiti Tattoos.

[Italy]: Fabri Editori, 1989.  First edition.  Large quarto.  Unpaginated.  The scarce first printing of this beautifully presented work.  Introduction by Michel Tournier.  Includes the essay; History of Tattooing in Polynesia by Raymond Graffe.  Volume is illustrated with Barbieri’s  superb photographs of Tahitians and their tattoos.  A very good copy in photo-illustrated boards.  Boards a little grubby.  Housed in the printed card carton.  A nice copy of this rare edition. OCLC locates just two copies in the U.S. (also three in Italy, and two in Australia).
