Andy Warhol Polaroids 1971 – 1986.

(New York, London and Paris): Pace MacGill Gallery, Anthony d’Offay Gallery and Galerie Liliane & Michel Durand, 1992.  First edition.  Softcover.  28cm by 22.8cm.  112 pages.  Introduction by Vincent Fremont; essay by Andy Grundberg.  Published in conjunction with exhibitions at Pace/MacGill Gallery (New York), Anthony d’Offay Gallery (London), and Galerie Liliane & Michel Durand-Dessert (Paris), this book contextualizes Warhol’s Polaroids within his broader artistic oeuvre. The accompanying texts (in French and English) by Fremont and Grundberg delve into the significance of these photographs, exploring themes of identity, celebrity, and the ephemeral nature of fame.  Spanning 15 years, the Polaroids feature a diverse array of subjects—from celebrities and artists to anonymous individuals—captured through Warhol’s lens. These images not only served as studies for his iconic silkscreen portraits but also stand alone as significant works, reflecting the cultural zeitgeist of the era.  A very good copy in wrappers.
