[Allen & Grier]. HOLMES, Joan and Kay. The Ballad of the Camping Woodcutter.

(Hollywood, CA): Manager Music / Different Music Co., (c.1963).  First edition.  Vinyl record.  7″ Single.  Released by the mysterious but supercool Camp Records who in the 1960s released an album and ten 45 rpm records of gay parody songs, most done with effeminate voices.  An amusing characteristic of the records they issued was the “label numbers” they gave them. Almost all of them are tongue-in-cheek gay references, the label number here being UR12. The track here attempts to play on the sound of medieval ballads while at the same time making off-colour puns.  B-side is Scotch Mist, artist unknown.  The disc is un-played housed in pictorial sleeve which is worn, with tears along edges.   All the releases from Camp Records, are now difficult to locate.
