AITKEN, Doug. Song 1.

(Washington DC): Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, 2012.  First edition.  Hardcover.  33cm by 20cm.  120 pages.  Kerry Brougher, Barney Hoskyns, Dean Kuipers with Doug Aitken, the volume was published to accompany the landmark installation SONG 1 (2012/2015) at the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden — a 360‑degree video and sound work that transformed the museum’s cylindrical façade into “liquid architecture.” The project is built around the pop standard “I Only Have Eyes for You”, reinterpreted by various performers.  The volume visually captures the installation, with expansive photographs of the façade projection, behind‑the‑scenes details, essayistic texts by curators and writers, and contextual commentary. The design of the book itself references the cylindrical form of the Hirshhorn building and mirrors the immersive nature of the work.  A very good copy in printed boards.
