AGEYEV, M. Novel with Cocaine.
(London): Picador, 1985. First UK edition. Softcover issue. Paperback. 19.5cm by 13cm. 174 pages. Translated from the Russian by Michael Henry Heim. Preface by the translator. Originally published in Russia in 1934 the work is a Dostoevskyan psychological novel of ideas which explores the interaction between psychology, philosophy, and ideology in its frank portrayal of an adolescent’s cocaine addiction. There was some speculation that Vladimir Nabokov, who once described the work as as decadent and disgusting, was actually the author. This a very good plus copy in wrappers. A nice copy of the first printing.
