A photographic book based on Korine’s research for his 2009 film of the same name, shot in Nashville and presented in the deliberately degraded aesthetic of found VHS footage. The photographs document the film’s masked characters, nocturnal wanderings, vandalism and encounters with the detritus of American urban life. The book’s raw, deliberately amateurish imagery extends Korine’s interest in the boundary between documentary, performance and vernacular photography. A very good copy. This example signed by Korine with a small drawing on the title-age.
